TIMARU, this day. The South Canterbury Jockey Club races opened to-day in beautiful weather. The attendance is the largest seen on the course for years. Results:—

Hunters' Hin-dles of 30sovs, 11 mile. —Sub Rosa, 11.0, 1; Fly, 11.4, 2; Victor IL, 11.2, rs. Won easily by half a dozen lengths. Dividend £2 4/.

Maiden Plate, of .'JOsovs. Six furlongs.—Valentine, 1; Heliograph, 2; Bristol, 3. Won easily. Dividend £G3 :J«.

Timaru Cup, of HOsovs. One and a quarter mile.—Messrs Ellis Bros.' Jupiter, 1; Duridas, 2; Vandyke, 3. A good race. Won by a long neck. Dividend, £4 13s.
