THE LATE FIRE.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—l wish to draw the attention of the public to the fire on Tuesday night of the house of Mrs E&gerton, occupied by Mr and Mrs Lindblom, who were only married last February. He was naturally anxious to make a home for himself, and for this reason left the foreign shipping service, and vprked for a time on the scows. He is now out of work, and being strong and healthy is willing to put his hand to anything that offers, but has not been able to find employment. There was no insurance on the home he has made and lost in so short a time, and they escaped only with the clothes they stood in. It seems a case In which the public of Auckland might be appealed to, to render assistance. A little timely help is better than a flood of tears. Will you kindly receive subscriptions on their behalf? As an earnest of my good faith, I enclose you a subscription herewith. Thanking you in anticipation, I am, etc., EARNEST. £We have received 5/ from "Earnest" towards the abovenamed object. Other subscriptions will be duly acknowledged.} j
