Returns asked for by members were authorised, showing' the amount of premiums paid for fire insurance, by, or on behalf of borrowers, under the Advances to Settlers Act, and the total amount paid by the underwriters on account of destruction of properties thus insured; showing the amount paid by the Government during the hist two .years, on account of its connection | with the Cook Islands, also the amount ■of the import and export trade with those islands. DEALING WITH LOCAL BILLS. The Auckland Harbour Board Empowering' Bill was introduced and read a first time. The first reading- of The Borough of Stratford Private Roads, the Education Act Amendment and the Rotorna Domain were also agreed to. The Canterbury College and Canterbury College Indemnity Bill was read a third time,
