PROHIBITION.
Yesterday afternoon the Rev. F. W. Isitt delivered an address on the prohibition question to a well-attended meeting of the Auckland Women's Christian Temperance Union in the Central Mission Hall. He gave some advice to those present relative to the method of voting on the liquor quesition, and urged the ladies to use all I their influence in favour of the no- ! license" cause at the next elections. He gave instances of the havoc wrought by drink, and said that all y the logic in the matter was on the side of prohibitionists. At the close of the meeting Mr Isitt answered several questions and was given a vote of thanks. The prohibition hymn, "Strike it Out," was sung during the proceedings, the audience joining in the chorus. The Rev. F. W. Isitt delivered a lecture last evening in the Devonport Hall on "Prohibition." The Rev. Sidney Hawthorne, Vicar of Holy Trinity Church, presided. Mr Isitt urged united action at the polling booth. A resolution was carried at the close of the meeting as follows: — "That power should be granted to those interested to appoint scrutineers at the local option poll, and that the attention of the Premier, Mr G. J. Smith, and the sitting members be directed to the matter."
