VICTOKIA EACING CLUB'S GEAND NATIONAL MEETING.

The following was the result of the principal event: — THE GEAND NATIONAL HUEDLE EACE. A handicap of 15sovs each, with lOOOsovs added; second, 200 soys; third, lOOsovs. Three miles. Mr J. Farrell'B b g Valdis, 6yrs or aged, lOst (Curtain) 1 Mr S. Womersley's br g- Mystery, 6yrs, lOst 41b Binghall) 2 Mr S. Miller's b g- Borderer, aged, list 131b (Mooney)... 3
Eighteen horses started. Acton and The African were scratched.
Betting: Six to 4 against Soult, 10 to 1 against Mystery and Valdis. Soult was the first away, but to great disappointment he lacked staying power. The race was a pretty one. Valdis was the first into the straight, and he won easily from Mystery. Borderer came fast in the last half mile and just beat Amourer for third place. Time, 6min 7Jsec.
