MELBOURNE AND CAULFIELD CUPS.
Papers to hand this week show that speculation opened quietly on the two big" spring events of the Victorian turf. A wager of 2000 to CO was booked about Fleet Admiral for the Melbourne Cup. In. double event betting on the two Cups the names of Massinissa and Hymettus were coupled for 10,000 to 10. For the Caulfleld Cup Hymettus is much fancied. It is stated that the work of the two handicappers was well received in Melbourne. This year the most notable discrepancies in the two handicaps are as under:— Melbourne Caulfleld Horse. Cup.
