'At the Gatwick Summer Meeting the Manor Welter Plate was won by Mr 8. H. Gollan's Waiuku.
[The Manor Welter Plate is only a minor event, the distance being one mile and the stake of the value of 100 fiovs.]
"A Lady From Nowhere" is the title of a new sensational serial story by Fergus Hume, author of the "Hatnsom Cab," etc., the first chapters of which appear in this week's "Graphic." The exclusive right to publish this story has been purchased by the proprietors of the
"Graphic."
Mr F. B. Gormley, traveller for Messrs P. Hayman and Co., was the recipient of a handsome marble clock to-day. Mr Eyre, who made the presentation on behalf of his fellow-em-ployees, referred in complimentary terms to the cordiality existing between traveller and house, and wished Mr Gormley (who has lately joined the Benedicts) and his wife long happines and prosperity. Mr Gormley responded feelingly and Characteristically.
.Mr Bartlett, of Ellerslie, yesterday afternoon when crossing a wall, fell and fractured his right leg. He was attended by Dr. Erson.
