THE GAIETY COMPANY.
A large audience assembled at the City Hall last night when the Gaiety Minstrel and Specialty Company presented a. change of programme. In the-minstrel portion Mr Walter Rivers sang "The Mighty Deep," and he was loudly recalled. '"Didn't Get a Look at 'Em,' a coon song, was so well rendered by Mr Tom Edwards that averse had to be repeated. Miss Georgie Devoe was seen to advantage in a song and dance, her/business" being capital. The Howard Sisters were favoured with a recall for their songand dance, "Wb.a.t Could the Poor Girl Da," while Mr 'Chas. Faning who sang "Jubilee" had to respond to half-a-dozen encored before the audience were.. 'Satisfied. An acceptable item was the neat song "Pretty Katie " and accompanying- sand jig by Messrs Carleton and Button. The performers were honoivred with a re-call. Mr .1. P. Robertson was twice encored fot the singing of a tenor solo "One Heart Divine." Ke responded with- a yodelling refrain. The treble song- and dance, "Ninety-nine of Us," by Miss Georgie Devoe and the Howard Sisters caused great laughter. In the second part-Mr C. E. Mackie by aid of his powerfhil limelight threw a number of pictures on the screen, including the bombardment of Manila. The Howard Sisters, Chas. Failing, Georgie Devoe, and Messrs Carleton and Sutton also gave songs and dances. The Company appear again to-night and each night this week.
