FATAL SHUNTING ACCIDENT

NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday,

A young man named Walter Asher, porter at the railway..:station, while shunting this morning, was run over and shockingly mutilated. Both llgs and one arm were broken. Asher died at the hospital about three o'clock in the afternoon, succumbing to internal injuries and shock. His injured.arm had been previously amputated. The accident emphasises the itrgent necessity, for an extension of the railway yard, where the cramped space causes great inconvenience, and increases the risk to officials. Only nine months since a man named Tash lost both legs in shunting here.
