SHIPPING COLLISION
TURKISH VESSEL SUNK.
45 LIVES LOST.
CONSTANTINOPLE, April 12
The steamer Kingswel collided with the Turkish ship Marie in the Mediterranean.
Both vessels were badly damaged, and the Turkish vessel sank almost immediately.
Forty-five persons pei'ished
The Kingswell is a steel screw steamer of 2,355 gross and 1,514 nettons. She was classified 100 Al at Lloyds, and was built in 1891 by Osbourne Gratan and Co., Sunderland, for the Kingswell Steamship Company. Her dimensions are : length, 290 ft. ; beam, 38.1 ft., and depth of hold 20.1 ft. She is registered at Newcastle. The brig Maria was built in 1867 by S. Flumes, Vassilicos, for llli Nicolaidi, and was 81ft. long, 24 ft. beam, and 12.7 ft. in depth of hold. She was registered at Constantinople.
