BOARD OF EDUCATION.
The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Board of Education was held t<s-dflyy when there were present: — Messrs B. Hobbs (chairman), J. Mnir, J. R. Reed, R. Farrell, Theo. Ceoper, L. J. Bagnall, W. Leys, S. Luke, and Dr. McArthur. The chairman welcomed Mr Leys and Dr. McArthur to the Board, and said their presence should be of considerable assistance, owing to the former gentleman's commercial knowledge and Df, McArthur's long scholastic and educational experience. Appointments.—Messrs Muir, *arrell, Bag-nail, and Hobbs were elected the Finance and Teachers' Selection Committee for the filing year. The chairman (Mr Hobbs) was appointed to represent the Board on the Auckland ColWe and Grammar School Board of Governors. Messrs Luke and Udy -were appointed Commissioners ot Education Reserves. Hours of Meeting.-On the motion of Mr J. 11. Heed it was resolved: 'That in future the meetings of the Board be held on alternate Wednesdays, commencing at 2.15 p.m. and closing at 6 p.m.' Te Aroha School.—Applications for the headmastership of Te Aroha school were referred to the Teachers Selection Committee.
