THE GAITEY COMPANY.
It is hardly necessary to remind playgoers that on Saturday night the Gaiety Comedy and Specialty Company commence their season at the City Hall. Mr William Lucifer has impressed us with his fine muscular development and physique. That he can accomplish all that has been said and written about him Aye do not .question. Whether in the grotesque dancing, high-kicking, heavy-weight lifting, or the severing of a pack of cards into four equal'parts, Mr Lucifer will astonish his audience. Then.in the comedy dancing and by-play of the Lucifer family, a splendid fund of amusement will surely 'be provided. Amongst other first appearances those of Miss Daisy Chard and Mr Prince Godfrey command certain notice. Of Miss Chard we have heard much that is good, and a four and a half years' engagement with Mr Harry Rickards is sufficient guarantee of her attract-. ive and staying powers, as a serio- ' comic. Prince Godfrey, the comique, comes fresh from the London theatres with a budget of the latest songs. Miss Althea's skipping rope, dancing has secured for her an enviable fame both in America and Australia. Messrs Tom Edwards and Ed. Stowe, knock-about and acrobatic comedians?, MissEdie Wright, serio-comic dan seuse, and Mr Sid £>oody, eccentric dancer and comedian, have all achieved success in the colonies. Altogether the combination should have a good season. New scenery has been prepared for the season, an efficient orchestra has been in active rehearsal, I and success seems already assured.
