FATAL ACCIDENTS

DUNEDIN, this day.
John Pagan, 70 years of age, dropped dead at Glenomaru, Catlins, yesterday. Thomas Gibson, a blacksmith, of Waikoikoi, was kicked by a horse on Friday and died the following day. A nan named John Barnes was received into the hospital suffering from severe burns about the arms and legs. He was cleaning out a tank in the engine department of the Waihora when someone turned on a stream of hot water, and Barnes was severely scalded. He is at present progressing favourably. . At the inquest on Matthew (not Michael) O'Hallaran, a verdict was returned that deceased met his death from injuries received by a fall from a horse. GISBORNE, this day. A boy named Cecil Rhodes, aged five, years, fell from a jetty in the Taruheru River and was drowned before assistance could be procured. iFfforts to resuscitate the boy were tried for over two hours, but were unsuccessful.
