A MAN DROWNED.

About one thousand excursionists left by train this morning- for Paeroa, where Miners' Union Sports are being held. •■

-»A man named John Eanclle, aped 61, was found drowned on Saturday afternoon off the Fishing Hocks, on the Thames-Pui-iri Roati. Two fish, and a fishing- line was found on the rocks. It appears that h"e had been fishing- when he slipped down the rocks and was stunned, and thus drowned. At the inquest the following- verdict was recorded, 'That deceased met his death by drowning,'iH&ving previously been stunned by a fall from rocks.'
