Victoria Rifles y. Auckland Rifles.— Victoria, first innings, 72 (batted two men short) —A. Buckley 25, McGarry 16. Auckland, first innings, 54 (Totman 10, Anderson 14). For the Victorias, Dempsey took 6 wickets for 35 runs.
Ellerslie C.C. v. Mennie and Dey.—A match between the above clubs was played at Ellerslie on Saturday, resulting in a win for the visiting team. The following, are the scores: —Ellerslie, 48 (Macmanemin IS, McKinney 18. Mennie and Dey, 5 wickets for 107 (Rowe, not out, 43, Manning 31, Fisher 20). Pitt street v. Northcote (at Northcote). —Scores: Northcote, 55; Pittstreet, 24; Northcote winning by 31 runs. For the winners. Brooking 23, and Arblaster 10, not out, reached double figures. Bowling: Whatford secured 7 wickets for 12 runs, and Arblaster 3 for 12. [Secretaries who have exhausted their Stock of scoring sheets can obtain fresh ones on application at 'Star' Office.] V.M.C.A. V. Wanderers. —This match was Concluded with much interest and excitement. V.M.C.A. made 124 and Wanderers totalled 57 for 4 wickets the previous week. Continuing on Saturday Wanderers made 105, leaving V.M.C.A. I' 9 runs to the good. The latter made 86 in their second venture, and Wanderers, with 106 to win, and 90 minutes to obtain them, forced the game all they could. With only two wickets down for 40 runs, things looked well for them; but V.M.C.A. fielded and bowled for a victory, and getting their opponents fdr 75 runs won by 30 runs. Following are the scores: — V.M.C.A.: First Innings, 124; second innings—Gash 10, Hemery 32, Ryburn 4, Johnston 2, Hay 15, Clark 2, Wheatley 0, Bell 7, Ward 5, Whit-law 9, Steel absent, extras 0; total, 86. Wanderers: First innings, 105; second innings, 75; individual scores being: S. Mills 0 and 6; S. Layers 8 and 4; Hobson 5 and 0; W. Mills 30 and 1; B. Layers 13 and 19; F. Mills 3 and 11; Smith 3 and 4; Wakely 19 and 1; Porteous 3 and 2; Stenson 14 (not out) and 20; Waddingham 1 a.nd 2 (not out); extras 6 and 5. For Wanderers W. Mills took 5 wickets for 49, Hobson 2 for 24, S. Mills 1 for 4. For V.M.C.A. Wneatley took 7 for 52, Whitlaw 3 for 50, Bell 2 for 41, Hemery 5 for 17.
