AUCKLAND RACING CLUB SUMMER MEETING.:
THIS MORNING'S TRAINING . NOTES.
lhe work at Ellerslie this morning was, full of interest, several excellent gallops being- got through on the course proper to the delight of the many present. Blue Jacket was responsible for the gallop, of the mornmgy He traversed a mile anda-half, assisted by Canopus and Lady Marion, for which the watch showed 2min 50 sees. Brers sent Nestor a couple of -strong rounds on the tan, Regulus bringing- the good-looking Cup candidate home over the last six furlongs. The Cup candidates Crusoe, Coronet and Panoply came on'-the course together, when all eyes were strained to watch the gallop. The trio were sent two miles, the two last-named finishing- in line and Crusoe some three lengths away. The time occupied over the trip was Smin SGsec, so the gallop may be looked uponfasa very fair one. Crusoe, if anything, had the worst of the weights. The Cup favourite Tirant d'Eau and Coeur de Lion were once more associated 'together. They carried about .level weights over a mile and a-half and finished together in 2min 52sec. Tirant d'Eau moved really well.and he must prove hard to beat in the Cup. The West Coast hack, Cairo, showed to advantage in a. couple of strong rounds which he negotiated in company with Dante on the course proper. Okoari apparently had more ta say than Battleaxe at- the finish of seven furlongs on the course proper, for which the watch showed Imin 38sec. Acone a.nd Explosion traversed a couple of circuits on the.ta.n in a workmanlike manner.. Uhlan, who arrived yesterday from New Plymonth, was sent a couple of steady circuits on the course proper. . Seahorse and The Labourer were coupled for six furlongs and the first-named had more to say than his stable mate at the end of the journey, run in Imin 24sec. Multiform and Altair were companions in- half - pace work on the tan, the Derby colt exhibiting signs of soreness at the close. Three-q\mrter-pace work over six furlongs was apportioned the good-looking Screw Gun. and Nantes. The N.Z.
