The Onehunga Rifle Volunteers who have for the past week been in camp at the Military Parade Reserve at Onehunga, struck tents and returned home on Saturday afternoon. Durin"the time of encampment the corps has been instructed by SergeantMajor Carpenter, and under his direc^ tion the men have made very material progress with their drill. The camp arrangements were successfully carried out under the supervision of the officers, who took considerable trouble to ensure the comfort of the men, while tbe catering was very highly spoken off. On Friday, the last night in camp, a concert was held in the. large marquee used as general mess tent, Captain Mcintosh presiding. There was a number of friends from the township present, A -programme of vocal and instrumental items was provided by volunteers and friends, and received with great heartiness. Refreshments in the form of cakes, fruits and cordials were also provided. Before the close of the concert Captain Mcintosh called for three cheers for Sergeant-Major Carpenter, which was responded to with great enthusiasm, .cheers also being given for himself, :During the week a large nnraber of persons visited the camp, and expressed themselves in eulogistic terms of the capital order and con? duct of the men.
