POLLARDS OPERA CO.
The perennial Pollards have concluded a most successful Southern tour, and will arrive here by the s.s Takapuna on .Wednesday, and Will earn a well-deserved rest before commencing a four weeks' season on Monday next. Since last seen here Mr Pollard has added severalmale voices to his chprus, a»4 has alsp- engaged a prominent young Ne^ ZeaJander in the person of Mr C. Carter who is said to be the possessor of a magnificent tenor voice. Mr Pollard has also added several novelties to the extensive repertoire of the company the most successful of whicji aye the musical comedies 'The Gay Parisiexme* and tbe -'French Maid.' These two old world successes have been secured fiom Messrs Williamson and 'Musgrove, and will be staged here with all the original scenery, wardrobe, and effects as used in the Princess Theatre, Melbourne. The attraction on Monday next will be 'The Gay Parisienne,' and as playgoers have heard such glowing accounts of this sprightly young damsel there is certain to be a rush for seats on Thursday morning, when the box plan will be opened at. Wildman and Lyell's. 'The Gay Parisienne' will introduce us to Mr Pollard's latest and most successful engagement, Miss Gertie Campion, the charming soubrette and dancer, who iwll be seen as Mdlle. Julie Bon Bon. The piece will be staged under the direction of Mr J. B. Watson, who originally staged it in London, and who was imported by 'The Firm' to superintend the Australian production.
