COMPENSATION CASE

A compensation court consisting of ill-Justice Ed wards and two assessors was engaged to-day hearing the first of the Kapiti Island compensation cases. Recently the Government, look the island for" the purposes of a reserve for the preservation of New Zealand flora and fauna, and the holders of the land tire now claiming compensation from the Minister of Lands. The claims in all amount to about £21,000. The cases are likely to last two or three days. Mr Gully is appearing for the claimants and Mr Findlay for the Minister of Lands.
