. , -> (Before Mr T. Hutchison, S.M.) The. Taylor Case.—The hearing of the charge of indecent assault preferred against John Henry Taylor was continued at the Police Court yesterday afternoon. Dr. King, avlio Avas ! called for the prosecu .ion, said he ex- | amined the girl Mary Davis about tAvo hours after the alleged assault, i but Avas not able to find any evidence of one. DetectiA __ Kennedy deposed to searching the accused's office, and finding two small boxes of silk handkerchiefs. Witness considered it unusual to have boxes of that kind in such a room, Avhere the stock appeared to be principally shovels, picks, foldingchairs, etc. Por the defence, Mr Earl asked for an adjournment, in order to consider Avhether he should call evidence. He pointed out that the only eA'ider.ce of an assault was that of the girl Davis herself, and he submitted her evidence was unsatisfactory. Counsel mentioned that the accused aa_is a man of good standing. He Avas a justice of the Peace and held the Royal Humane Society's medal for saving life. The case Avas adjourned till to-morroAv (Friday).
