WOODSTOCK RETURN
AN IMPROVED YIELD
El 928 FOR THE MONTH.
Evidently the change in the sys-
terns of treatment of ores adopted
by the Woodstock GoMmining Company :s going to result in a more satisfactory output of bullion for the re-
turn this month shows decided iin-
provement. apart, from the fact that nearly doubie the quantity of ore Avas treated. Altogether 1,000 tons of quartz Avere put through the plant during the past month, for a return
cf bullion Avorth £1,928. Of this au.ount £2SC Avas obtained from the
treatment cf the concentrates. Last month 520 tons yielded £657. The
present return is the largest since last January.
Operations at this company's mine are still confined to Nos. 4 ands levels, from Avhich sources, however, a- considerable supply of ore is being sent to the mill for treatment. At No. 4 level three block are being operated upon Toy. stog.es,--one. .block south -of -No.
2 break and tAvo blocks between No. 1 ancl No. 2 breaks. In these latter the reef is about four feet Avide, ancl in the first block it is fully seven feet Avide ancl very hard. At No. 5 level driving south on the course of the lode is proceeding-, ancl the face is nearly 100 ft south of No. 2break lode, being still disturbed and evidently suffering from the influence of the break, though improving. About seA'enty feet back from the No. 2 break, what appeared like the junction 01 tAvo reefs avus met, the one Avhich came in on the driA-e being a hanging Avail lode. Driving north on this hanging Avail branch has now been commenced from the point of junction, and the stone so far was of very good quality, though only eight or ten feet have yet been driA*en on the lode. Over the back ol Wo. 5 level stoping is in progress south of No. 1 break. Tho reef is four feet thick, and payable ore is being passed. A contract has just been let here for stoping fifty fathoms, the successful party being W. E. Pobison, at. 4 17/9 per fathom. At the battery the recently installed tenA ranners are in full sAving, and are Avorking smoothly and well. The ore is first treated by Avet stamping and afterwards passed over these vanners, Avhich separate the coarse gold, silver and minerals from the tailings, these last passing into the cyanide vats, Avhere the fine gold is extracted. The concentrates containing the minerals pass into tAvo agitators, strongly chargedAAuth cyanide, Avhich separates the gold from the minerals.
