There was a large attendance of members at the annual meeting- of the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cy^jle Club on Friday in the Metropolitan Hotel. Apologies for nonattendance were received from the President (Mr J. Marshall), and the Vice-Presidents (Messrs S. T. George, B. J. Esam, and G. Dunnett), none of whom were able to be present. Mr C. E. MacConmick was voted to the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet published in last night's 'Star' were read and adopted, .and the following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, His Excellency Lord Eanfurly; vice-patrons, Messrs J. H. B. Coates and J. F. Logan; president, Mr John Marshall; vice-presidents, Messrs S. T. George, Geo. Dunnett, and F. W. Edwards; hon. secretary, Mr J. W. Browne; hon. treasurer, Mr C. E. MacCormick; committee of management, Messrs W. C. Speight,, F. J. Ohlson J. Farquhar, T. Davies, S. W. Somerfield, W. H. Martin, W. H. Toy, L Myers, T. F. Upfill, C. Hesketh, H. H Dacre, H. Cooke, C.' E. Palmer; auditor, Mr W. E. Holmes. Honorariums of £10 10/ and £5 5/ respectively were voted to the retiring hon. secretary (Mr W. C. Speight) and hon. treasurer (Mr J. W. Browne), and an additional £10 10/ was voted to Mr Speight in recognition, of his valuable services to the Club in the past; The same gentleman was elected a life member of the Club, and a like distinction was also conferred upon Mr B. J. Esam. Messrs F. H. Creamer and L\ Wilson were presented with special gold medals, the former for establishing a fresh world's record for one mile at the last spring gathering, and the latter for putting up a fresh New Zealand record for three miles at the same meeting. It was decided to instruct the hon. secretary to forward a letter of sympathy to Mr J. FLogan, one of the Club's vice-presi-dents, who is at present' lying seriously ill in London. On the motion of Mr B. A. Laurie, a resolution urging the desirability of forming a sports club was referred to the ingoing committee for consideration.
