The New Zealand Cup candidate Swordfish is' to be shipped to Christchurch by the s.s. Takapuna, which leaves the Manukau on Monday next. Mr H. French, his trainer, goes doAvn in charge.
At Hunter and Nolan's yard to-day the speedy racehorse Telephone was pat up for sale. Bidding was spirited up to 150 guineas, but no advance being- forthcoming the gelding Ava's withdrawn at a reserve of 160 guineas. The stallion Detonator (by Carbineer • —Magnolia), the trotter Cleveland (by Berlin —Nellie), the pony Purvoke and Mavkinch were also offered but failed to find purchasers.

A Press Association cablegram slates that Brazen Lad, Welbeck, Buke of Richmond, and Balistite have been scratched for the Caulfield Cup, and Balistite for the Melbourne Cup.
