After driving 40 feet the miners were flooded out, but the water was subsequently coped with. The,quartz is of good colour. In connection with the recent developnientin the Grand Junction, unfortunately, the result?of tapping the lode lias been to flood tjie drive, necessitating the stoppage of work at present, tlie boiler and pump beipg incapable of dealing with the water. The lode was met at a distance of 47 feet from the winze, being tapped on the footwall fside. The water rose so rapidly that thereef was only cut into a couple of feet, and it showed a strong quartz body. Mr Evaps expects that the water will get easier during the next foitnight, and in the meantime he is conveying a more powerful boiler to this west section from the Grand Junction end, in order to make every effort to cope with the water.
