A largely-attended, meeting of the j promoters' of the proposed North Shor©' Native Begatia -and AqiiStic Carnival was held last evening in the Council Chambers; at Devbnport, Mr. J. Ci Macky presiding. Mr C. C. Bacre, the hon. secretary, vvith his usual ability, Submitted a skeleton ;proi gramme for the carnival, which is to takd'three days at the end of December during the Auckland Exhibition season. ■ The programme submitted, which was adopted, was as follows:-— Waka-tJtua ('War Canoes')-—Canons and paddlers in waT-dress. Prizes—•• £100,. .£,50, ahd £25. /Best out _of three races; Intercolonial Championship' Yacht It ace, 1-rater' class.— Prize—£loo. "Best out of three races. Waka-tiwai Race for canoes of not less than 15 men.—Prizes-^£lo, £5, and £2. Cano£ .Hurdle Bace (two men in each canoe).—Prizes— £2 and £1 10/. Canoe Hurdle Race (for itWO native girls),-r-Prifces— £2 and :£ 1 10/. Canoe Hurdle RaCe ('Oyer and.under: for men).—Prizes— £2 and .£1 10/. Canoe Hurdle Bace .'over and Under:' for Maori girls) .—Prizes— £ 2 and £ 1 10/. Maori War, Dance (tribe; against tribe).—^Prize —£15. '.• Combined Dance by : Natives.—Pri2e—£lo.; Tug-of-War (Maori" tribe v. tribe; 20 men: a-side).— p r j^e-^- £5. Tv g-of-War (Maoris v." New Zealand Natives Association; 20 men a-Side).— Prize—£5. Maori Brass Band Contest.—First prize £25; second £10; third £5. Five bands to enter to ensure third prize. Men-of-war Cutter v. War Canoe—Prize--£l3. Yacht Baca (for 36-footers) .--First prize £5; second £3. Yacht Bace (30-footers).— Prizes—£10 and A £6. Open Handicap Yacht Bace.—-First prize trophies valued at £20; second- £ 10j," third £ <3; fourth £4. Amongst the other attractions decided on wgre a swimming competition, Natives v.
