A DOG'S GOOD MEMORY.
When President David Starr Jordan, of the Leland Stafford Junior University, at Palo Alto, California, Avas president of the Indiana, University, he owned a fine St. Bernard dog. This animal Avas very intelligent, and exceedingly fond of his master. He Avent to the post-office after President Jordan's mail, and Avas otherAvise accomplished. Being about to leave Bloomington, Dr. Jordan gave tbe dog to a friend, Professor Hoffman. On the night of his departure the members of the faculty Avent to the station, and with them av&s the clog. Before mtering his car Dr. Jordan stooped and patted the dog on the head. Shortly after this Professor Hoffman noticed that his- dog was absent at a certain period in the day. The telegraph operator also noticed the daily visits of the dog to the station on the arrival and departure of the two o'clock train, and sent Avoid to Professor Hoffman. The clog came every day, and Avaited patieatly for the approach of the train. As it neared the station he would prick up his cars and observe the arrivals. It Avas only Avhen the train had passed out of sight that the dog Avould depart.
