Mr William Andrew Guesdon, whose splendid bequest of a fortune of £460,000 to charities was announced more than a year ago. led a life of some social seclusion and mystery. That is Probably why people have been asking each other who and what he was, and have not found anybody to reply. As a matter of fact, he was, I believe an auctioneer, in Hobart, Tasmania, where he made his great wealth in land and other specu lations. The sum left to panties is practically the entire amount of Mi Guesdon's fortune; but the portion of it allocated1 by the Court to Tasmania, some £2S 000 will go to meet certain more or less domestic claims for which no provision was made in the will, as had been expected—'Charity Record.
