WAITEKAURI KOMATA PROPERTY.

(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)

PAEROA, this day.

At the Waitekauri Company's Teaoinarama, or Komata property, which is under the management of Mr Pnrchas, a fair start has now been made with the scheme of development recently decided upon by the Homedirectors. Amainshaft 10rtby4fthas been started near the month of the hopper level, and will be continued to meet the lowlevel at a depth of about 600 ft. Levels will be opened out from this shaft at regular intervals to prove the reef downward, whilst sinking will übe carried on continuously. Owing to the position chosen for the shaft little difficulty is anticipated with water for a considerable depth. The sawing contract for the supply of kauri timber for the shaft and workings is progressing satisfactorily. At the old workings a rise has been put up between the No. 1 and the hopper levels, and driving from this rise is now proceeding: A winze is also being sunk below No. 1 level. The lode continues to look well, and very fair assays have been returned from the samples tested. The low level coming in from the eastern side of the hill is oeing pushed ahead, but owing to the tight nature of the country progress is slow.
