MINE MANAGERS REPORTS.

'Bunker's Hill.—ln the rise on Legge's feef a bottom'strataof country is evidently coming in as rising proceeds. _ Stringers of quartz are now intermixed with the sandstone, which have a tendency to form on the hangingwall. In the underhand stope on the cross leader gold lias been seen more freely in the quartz broken down this week. The'quartz was of a better average than any previously taken down. Strong dabs of'gold were'distributed all through the leuler, which averages 3 inches in thick-

ness. New Whau.—ln the low level the ground anil reef are much the same. The reef is 3ft wide, and the stone is heavily mineralised. Great Mercury. — At the intermediate level the Red Mercury reef has turned out Hint intermixed with stringers of quartz. Four stopes are in progress on the footwall reef at No. 2 level. Samples taken from the Christmas reef show a little gold by mortar test. The Company's stall of men has been reduced by nine men. Welcome Find.—No. 2 level northeastern drive having passed the point where the big reef should have been cut the men were removed and set to drive 40ft from the face on what the manager now believes to be that lode. Some stone is charged with iron pyrites, and the country is favourable for gold. Strong blotches of gold are seen in the stone broken from the southern lode in the stopes, and occasionally pieces are selected that may be classed as picked stone. At No. 1 level No. 1 lode is strong and at times looks promising for gold. Alburnia East.—The work of sinking the crosscut with the top of the rise will be completed in the course of a few days. New Golden Point (Tapu).—Work is being pushed ahead at the intermediate level. We have a nice leader showing in the floor. A few colours of gold were seen when breaking down the quartz. We have also been engaged putting up a rise to form a connection with the other level. This answers two purposes, testing the reef and also providing ventilation. I intend starting two prospecting drives on the surface. Wailii Beach (Waihi). —On ' resuming work after the holidays we started to drive at the lowest possible level (from the eastern end lacing the ocean) on one of the branches of the big lode I reported upon in my last. The quartz looks very kindly for gold, and the lode is fully 5 or 6 feet wide, and will evidently come together with the other branches at 40 or 50 feet ahead, and. will form a very large lode. Tlie face of the drive is now in 23 feet.
