FATAL FIRE.
A WOMAN BURNED TO DEATH.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
OAMARU, Friday.
A fire occurred last night by which one of the Benevolent Society's cottages was totally destroyed. There was no water near the place, and the fire had to burn itself out. It was reported that the occupant of the cottage, Mrs Quigley, had been burned to death in the fire, but it was some time before it was proved to be the case. The charred body was found near the door which deceased had been endeavouring to reach. She was a very old woman. An inquest was held at which a verdict of " Accidentally burned to death" was returned.
