Particulars of a peculiar suicide are given by the "Alexandra Herald." A Chinaman, named Choug Song, about seventeen years of age, went out for a walk with two half-caste children, and on reaching the Manuherikia bridge he got outside the railing and told the children to count "one, two, three." The children did so, and when they called " three" he made a dive into the river, about 60ft below. The children were so terrified that they Avere afraid to mention the affair to anyone, but when deceased did not turn up on Sunday inquiries were made, with the result that the children told what they knew.
