i The manager of this mine reports that ! the property has been visited by Mr A. Richards, Government Mining Inspector (late of Kuaotunu), and things were found not to be as bad as reported. It will be fully three weeks if all the time fine weather prevails, before the damages can be repaired sufficiently to recommence sluicing even with the present hose, Avhile 'atthe claim altitude levels, bearings, etc., were taken, and Mr Richards agreed that the Company has a really promising property. Concerning the works Mr Mace, M.E., also reports that he carefully examined the races, dams, and fluming, and iound all well constructed on the whole. The race has a carrying capacity of six heads, or six cubic feet per second. With a few improvements the race could provide 10 head. The flume will be capable of doing good work for some years, but after that it will require considerable looking after. The dam Mr Mace considers to be of too light construction to be of any service at any time, and as the race is now the dam is of little or no service! About two chains of fluming were carried away by a landslip, an accident against which no man can iguard. Mr Mace adds, "The ground is no doubt good, and I have no hesitation in saying it is a claim which fully warrants the expenditure of a sufficient amount of capital to equip it in a proper manner. HAURAKI ASSOCIATED. The new 10-stamp battery which has been erected for this Company on the Kennedy Bay side of the Tokatea Range is now completed, and a start to crush will be made on Thursday. The local directors and some of the shareholders are going down on Wednesday to be present at the formal starting.
