ENGINEERS' STRIKE.
STATEMENT BY THE SECRETARY.
LONDON, November 7,
Mr Barnes, the secretary of the Engineers' Association, states that the engineers will not surrender until the battle for eight hours has been won in London and the provinces. The prospects of ultimate victory, he says, daily grow "rosier." He states that the employers will shortly find theniselves contending with the whole force of labour.
DUNEDIN, Monday,
At a meeting of the local branch of the Carpenters' and Joiners Society it was resolved to make a levy of Is per week per member in aid of the engineers on strike, the levy to continue as long as the strike lasts.
