AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.

A meeting of the Works and Tariff Committee of the Anckland Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon, when there were present :—Messrs W. J. Napier (Chairman), T. Henderson, E. Bell, and M. Niccol. Specifications for working dredger No. 121 and for tarring and sanding the wharves were considered and approved. With reference to the storing of explosives, it was resolved on the recommendation of the Chairman, that with a view to deciding as to the desirabdity of the Board takingover the receiving and storage of explosives in Auckland harbour, the Committee inspect the Board's reserve on Rangitoto, and'that a sub-Committee, consisting of the Chairman, and Messrs Niccol and Julian,'be appointed to confer with the importers of explosives and the Collector of Customs, and get all necessary information, in order to report to next meeting of the Committee. With reference to provision for lifting heavy Aveights on the wharves, which it was stated Avas a very urgent need, it was resolved: " That the Foreman of Works report to the next meeting of the Board, in conjunction Avith the Harbourmaster, as to providing adequate crane accommodation, and as to the best site, etc."
