The " New Zealand Primitive Methodist " for November, in giving a photo of the Primitive Methodist Orphan Home, Alresford, Hampshire, England, and the history of the institution, urges that New Zealand Methodists should raise a small sum annually to assist in its carrying on. A friendly gossip on "English-speaking Poets,"' by Mr Robert Crawford, of Christchurch, and the continuation of the essay on " The Puritan," by Miss Simmonds, of the Thames, will be read with interest. " Hymn and Hymn Work," " News of the Churches," obituary and marriage items, results of the S.S. Scripture examination, editorial notes and well-selected reprints keep up the reputation of this useful monthly.
