PAEROA NEWS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
PAEROA, this day.
At Paeroa yesterday afternoon a foot race of 150 yds for £10 a side took place between G. Downie and W. Taylor and was very easily won by the former. At the Paeroa Police Court yesterday, before Messrs Nathan and Forster, J.P.s, an interesting case of alleged as sault at Waihi was heard. Mary Lee charged George Aitkenhead with assaulting her, but, after hearing considerable evidence as to the relations between the parties, the Bench dismissed the ease. The tender of Guthrie Bros. £262, has been accepted for building a volunteer hall and drill shed at Karangahake. The next lowest tender was Steel, £268.
