RICHMOND, ROAD SCHOOL.

THE ALLEGED FLOGGING CASE.

At the meeting of the Board of Education this afternoon correspondence was read from the l'onsonby School Committee relative to a complaint made against Mr H. J. S. Ellis, headmaster of Richmond Road School, by Mr D. 11. Jones. Mr Jones alleged that Mr Ellis unduly flogged his A letter was read, from Mr Ellis under date October 23rd, asking the Board not to adjudicate on the case until it had made a thorough investigation of the circumstances, for the following reasons :— (1) That the Board had no evidence before it on which to adjudicate ; (2), that the proceedings of the Committee were irregular ; (3) that the weight of evidence was against the finding of the Committee. A letter was also read from the Secretary of the Ponsonby Committee to the effect that the Committee was satisfied Miss Bell was not deserving of blame in the matter.
