.*; ROME, October 23. The Italian Socialists have decided to grant assistance to the English strikers.
LONDON, October 25.
The Amalgamated Society of Engineers have agreed to the holding of a conference provided the lock-out and strike notices are withdrawn. Mr Barnes, Secretary of the Engineers' Society, states that the* Unions are likely.to have a rough time.
A member of the Engineers' Society who was sent to Kiel, in Germany, to advocate the cause of the strikers, was arrested and compelled to leave the town.
The boilermakers who recently struck have decided to continue the strike until eight horn's are conceded to them in spite of the decision of the Boilermakers' Society not to grant them strike pay, because of their refusal to accept a compromise with the employers by which the 1592 agreement was reverted to.
