NATIVE GRIEVANCES.

DEPUTATION TO THE PREMIER.

(By TelegTaph. —Press

Association.)

WELLINGTON, Monday.

A deputation representing a majority of the Maori tribes, being delegates from the native parliament, waited on the Premier to-day to lay before him certain native land grievances. All the Maori and several European members were present. The proceedings occupied two and a half hours. The Premier intimated the intention of the Government to abolish the Native Land Courts. He strongly advised the Maoris to sell no more land. He said only through Parliament could redress be obtained. NewZealand was a self-governing colcnv and it was useless appealing to the Home Government in the matter. He appealed to the natives to assist the Europeans in passing the legislation which would be necessary, and said that they must elect to the Legislative Council those who would be in unison with them in the matter.
