THAMES NEWS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent)
THAMES, this day.
Last evening the members of tlie Hauraki Rifles Company were sworn in by Mr John Frater, in the absence of Captain Grant. The number already enrolled exceeds the minimum strength stipulated by the regulations. The election of Messrs Harper (Captain), Radford (Lieutenant), and J. Childerhou.se (Secretary) was confirmed. The uniform chosen in Kharkee, and the first parade will be held on Thursday.
A petition is in course of signature by members of the telephone exchange drawing the attention of the Department to the unsatisfactory style of the instruments in use here. That they are entirely out of date, and a source or disappointment to subscribers is well known.
