WAITEKAURI.

(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent)

PAEROA, this day.

An important scheme of operations for development of the Te Ao Marama or Kotnata section of the Waitekauri Company's property has been decided upon by the "directors, and immediate effect will be given to the initiatory work by the Company's manager, Mr Purchas. It has been decided to sink a main £haft in the vicinity of the old workings to a depth of 600 feet. The reef will be tested from this shaft at different levels, and when 600 feet is obtained driving will be commenced from the shaft to meet the low level tunnel coming in from the eastern side of the hill. This low level tunnel is now in 730 feet out of a total' distance of 4,300 feet. The Company do nob anticipate much _ difficulty with water in sinking the shaft, as it is considered likely no water will be met at any rate before 500 feet is attained. The Company are to be commended for the energetic manner in which they intend to prosecute their developments in this .ground-, and they should be . well rewarded for their expenditure, as this ground formerly contributed a large sum when worked by Mr T. H. Russell for the old Company.
