MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Temple Bar (Thames).—The low level is being steadily pushed ahead, the country is light blue sandstone interlaced with silica and mineral veins. I cut through a soft head six inches thick striking direct for the reef about 15 feet nearer the mouth of the surface level than the point where the picked stone was obtained. By following this break about 10 feet should cut the reef. About 15 feet of driving along the line of reef should take the drive underneath where the picked stone was obtained. I intend putting the men at this face to push it through. Waitekauri King. —Mr James has been here and inspected the drive, which is now in about 830 feet on the line laid off by the engineers. Better progress will now be made and the reef will shortly be to hand. The country is still of a favourable nature, easy to work, so that the two shifts will make good headway. European. — Good progress is being made towards the junction, the country is highly impregnated mineral. Another 20 feet should show a change for the better.
