CHOPPED ON THE HEAD WITH A TOMAHAWK.

A swagman was before the Bathurst Court on Monday in connection with an alleged attempt' to commit suicide by stril-ing himself on the head with a tomahawk yesterday, and was remanded for ei'dit days for medical observation and treatment. It is stated that he had become melancholy because neither he nor his wife had been able to obtain work, and o-ot up early yesterday morning and began chopping at himself with the tomahawk, but was prevented from doing more serious injury by his wife.
