The annual meeting of shareholders, in the Lorna Doone Goldmining Company was held yesterday afternoon, at the office of Messrs Twentyman and Montgomery. Mr J. S. Porter presided. The directors' report stated that the mine had been under absolute protection since last month. All wages had been paid in full, and the present liabilities of the Company were very small. The option held by Messrs Porter and Hampson had not yet resulted in any sale being effected, owing to the continued depression of the London market. The mine manager's report suggested the extension of the low level crosscut, where he thoughb good payable ore would be obtained. The statement of accounts showed total receipts by sale of syndicate shares £1,000, calla received £45, total £1,045, expenditure £1,038 7s 4d, including mine wages £464 3a lOd. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs C. O. Fleming and W. H. Skinner were elected directors and Mr Carbines was reappointed auditor. NORTH. A meeting of the North Goldmining Company was to have been held yesterday afternoon at Mr J. H. Harrison's office for the purpose of winding up the Company (which is now amalgamated with the Harbour View), bub the meeting lapsed for want of a quorum. The amalgamated company has over £700 in hand. STAR OF THE NORTH. The annual general meeting of shareholders in the Star of the North Goldpaining Company, which was to have been held yesterday afternoon at Messrs Twentyman and Montgomery's office, lapsed for want of a quorum of shareholders. The Company bad a credib balance of £2 15s 8d on July 31st. GOLDEN CALEDONIAN GOLDMINING ( COMPANY. The ordinary half-yearly meeting of tho Golden Caledonian Goldmining Company was held this morning in the office of bhe legal manager, Mr R. McDonnell. The directors' reporb stated thab no work is proceeding and that protection has been granted till December 30th. The balance sheeb showed that the cash balance is £2 5s sd. Mr E. C. Browne was re-elected director and Mr J. Young auditor. KURANUI. The annual meeting of shareholders in the Kuranui Company (Limited) was held this morning at Mr VV. Clarke's office, when Mr W. R. Blomfield presided, The balance-sheet showed receipts £919 13s Id, including £5&0 deposited for options. The expenditure left a credit balance of £94 0s 9d. The directors' report stated work bad been of a prospecting nature ab the 150 feeb level. A winze was now being sunk on Hunt's reef, and the ore was improving downwards. In moving the adoption of the report, the Chairman explained that a second £250 had been received on account of an option of flotation. The terms were vendors to receive £3,000 cash and 25,000 paid-up shares in a company with a capital comprised ef 120,000 £ shares, and a working capital of £20,000. The option extended till Ocbober next, bub letters received yesterday pointed to a successful flotation. The reports were adopted. Mr P. Hanser was re-elected director and Mr E. Waymouth auditor. NEW YEAR. The half-yearly meeting of shareholders in Che New Year G.M. Company was held yesterday afternoon at Mr D. G. McDonnoil's office. Mr A. Wright presided. The directors' report stated that a nice reef had been discovered near bhe top of the range, the assay value of the ore from which was £8 per ton. Other reefs bad been cub, and the results of operations so far conducted were very satisfactory. The balance sheet showed receipts £407 4s 7d, expenditure £278 8a 2d, leaving a credib balance of £128 16a sd. The report and balanceBheeb were adopted. QUEEN VICTORIA OF HAURAKI. The statutory general meetine of shareholders in the Queen Victoria of Hauraki Goldmining Company was held yesterday afternoon ab Meesra Twentyman and Montgomery's office. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £345 Is lOd. The Chairman (Mr J. H. Porter) said thab he and Mr Evans had visited the mine, and were Very favourably impressed with its appearance and prospects, and hopes were expressed that the present operations would end in successful results. Messrs G. S, Kiasling and Bell were elected directors, and Mr J. Bridgewater was elected ouditor, LAPSED. f The ordinary half-yearly meeting of the Dr. Jim Goldmining Company, called for yesterday atternoon in the office of tho legal managers, Messrs Buddie, Bubton and Co., lapsed for want of a quorum. The meeting of the Jersey Goldmining Company lapsed: The accounts showed receipts £206 Os 6d, and the expenditure left a credit balance of £42 14s. The annual meeting of the Dr. Jim Company lapsed. The statement of accounts showed a balance to the credib of the Company of £31 8s 9d. Tha Komata Chief, Royal and King annual meetings also lapsed. Tho statements of accounts showed the following credit balances :—Komata Chief, £32 lis lid ; Komata Royal, £30 19a 2d ; Komata King, £10 10a sd. The annual meeting of shareholders in the Matarangi G.M. Company lapsed for wanb of a quorum. The statement of accounts showed a credit balance of £41 16s sd.

The ordinary meeting of shareholders in the Golden Centre G.M. Company lapsed fpr want of a quorum. The statement of accounts showed a credit balance of £90 os6d.

XIIB SHABEMABKET.

More disposition to buy was noticeable on the Exchange today, but few transactions resulted, as holders waited for better prices thaß those generally offered. Hit or b y u , shares firmed, Is 6d being offered, but sellers did not quote. Grace Darlings and Portseas also had inquiry at Is 9d and Bid respectively. Four-in-Hand shares also seem to have an upward tendency. The demand for Ohinemuri shares seems Co have eased off a gain, sales being made to-day at 7^d. Waihi Extendede, on the other hand, were dealt in at Is 3i and Is 4d. In higher priced stocks, Waihis were asked lor at £7 10s, Crowns at 24s 6d, Talismans at 17s 3d, and Moanataiaris at lis 3d. Transactions took place in May Queens at 7* 6d, aud Alburniaa were iuquired tor at 4s 2d.
