The result of fche licensing election is not yeb definibely known, and will nob be oub for aboub bbree days, as bhe reburns from Whangamata, Tairua, etc., are nob expected before then. So far the principal returns are in from thirteen polling places, and these give the following numbers for the Bix highest candidates :—D. Campbell, 884 ; H. McClelland. 707 ; N. Dickey. 639 ; T. Gavin, 568; E. Edwards, 448 ; F. Lipsey. 374. Whitehead is nexb, and clobq up. It ie probable tho first five will be elecbed, which means bho moderabe tickeb.
