MANY SHIPWRECKS,

London, March 4. A great gale was experienced in the southern counties of England, and serious damage resulted. Many shipwrecks have been reported, and the mails are delayed.

[The following memorandum from the Ofiicer-ui-Charsje of the Auckland Telej»rnph Office has reference to the gale mentioned above : — " Porthcurno (Cornwall) advisee thab all land lines to London are down, and tha&uioß*atrßS are being received and forwarded from Plymouth by train ab intervals of a few hours!."j
