Darwin. —Driving is proceeding as usual on the No. 1 reef at the Muitum level. The reeF looks better now than it haa done since starting. A few colours of gold have been seen in the reef during the week. Fiery Cross (Wharekeraupunga).— Since the holidays work has been resumed with six men. The main croaacut is now in a distance of 350fb, splendid blue nandstone country being met with. Several leaders have been cub. One aboub 6in gave dish prospecbs. The lasb 10ft of driving the ground has become sofber. Pkince of Wales (Wharekeraupunga). There is little change in the class of country. If anything ib is harder. The main crosscub has been driven 310 ft. Duke of Aroyle.—No. 3 level: The reef continues about two feob thick, and ia carrying excellent stone showing mineral indications of a splendid character. A small vein bai come in the face, and ia running with the reef. A little loose gold can be obtained from this vein by washing. The ciosacut through the big reof is going through country of an excellent) nature carrying quartz eeamn. Karaka QUEEN.—The main lodo being driven upon its north course ab the No. 2 level is a tine strong body of ore. Gold is showing freely, and is well impregnated in the solid quartz. Hapraki North (Coromandel, January 25).—N0. 1 level: The stopea overhead of bhis level still produce ore of good grade, with occasional small hanU of picked atone. I have also made a start with a leading atope going eaat from winze immediately overhead of No. 2 level. Can see strong blotches of gold in the ore when breaking down, and ought to get specimens by to-morrow or the day after. There are on band 125 ounces of amalgaaa from aboub 20 tons of ore ; fully 1001b of picked atone on hand. Morion Puru.—ln the No. 2 tunnel the country continues of a very hard nature. The drive 13 in a total distance of 131 feet. Operations at the low level have been started. The country hero is of a firatclaes description.
