INTERPROVINCIAL CRICKET.

The cricket match Wellington v. Canterbury, commenced ab Lancaster Park this morning, before a very email attendance. Ho!dßhip won the toes for Wellington and elected to bat. Burton and Warren facing tbe bowling of Bat6B and Malone. With 13 up Burton was stumped by Fowke off Malone for four. Williams went in and a good. stand was made. .At 47 McMurray took tha ball from Bates and a couple of rune later the freah trundler bowled Warren, who had made 31 in good style. Holdehip followed, and the score rose steadily until ib reached 76, when North wenb on to bowl vice Malone. Twenty runs later D. Reese took the ball from McMurray and the century was posted. A couple of overs afterwards the total had mounted rapidly, Holdship in particular scoring very freely, and at 121 a double change was tried, Bates and Clarke going on to bowl. After each had sent down a maiden, play ceased for lunch, tho total being 121 for two wickets. Holdship, 45, not out; Williams, 37, not oub ; extras, 4.
