STATISTICS AND RETURNS.
Tbe arrivals in the colony during November were 1,886, as against 834 persons who departed. One thousand one hundred and forty-one came from New South Wales, 395 from Victoria, and 201 from the United Kingdom. Five hundred and forty-three left for New Soubh Wales, 111 for Victoria, and 72 for tbe United Kingdom. There were no Chinese arrivals, while il took their departure.
Figures supplied by the ftegjetrarGeneral show that the Taranaki district has made greab progress during the past five years. The number ot cattle bas increased by 67,010, and the number of sheep by 109,121, while the area down in sown grass has increased by 206,952 acres. The most remarkable increase, however, is in the butter and cheese industries. The quantity of butter made during the past year was 4,877,5'24!bs more than five years ago, and the quantity of cheese showed an increase of 1,237 tons, the value of the total output being £163,164 more thin it was five years ago. | The cansua industrial statistics show, i&4 table prepared by toe Registrar-General, that the woollen mills in bhe colony have increased since 1891, from Bto 9.
