DON OF WAIHI.
Shareholders in this company met on December 21, and the action of the directors in executing power of attorney was confirmed, and the Board was empowered to cell or otherwise dispose of the property. WAIHI CONSOLIDATED. The shaft is now down 200 ft on the course of the lode, and ib is intended shortly to open oub on the reef in order to test ib. The intention, however, is to continue sinking until a depth of 400 or 500 feet is reached. The lode is of immense width, a? proved by the drive pat through it at 100 ft down in' i the old shaft. The Company Are bent oa m
thoroughly developing their property. A large amount of machinery is ab present ab Wellington on the way to Waihi to increase the lifting and pumping plant. Should this lode make into a gold-bearing reef when driven on at this greater depth tha Company will certainly havo a good thing, and as many consider ib will junction ahead with the Martha lode, should the -latter live so far, the Company are well justified in their present outlay. WAIHI DREDGING COMPANY. Mr J. Barber has received a cablegram from Mr E. H. Barber: " Contractus signed and a company is now being arranged for." Mr Barber informs us that power of attorney, proofs of titles, etc., are already in London, and there is every prospect of the summer season being taken advantage of. This ia important, as the river is now unusually low, and favourable for dredging operations. There are some hundreds of tons of valuable tailings ready for immediate treatment, and a speedy return may be loofced for. The new company is to have a capital of £15,000, ont of which a working capital of £5,000 is to be provided, and bhe Waihi Dredging Company is to have one half of the remainder of tho capital allotted to its shareholders iv fully paid shares. VVAITETE. An ■ extraordinary meeting of shareholders'in this company was held on Dec. 15, Mr Wm. Gorrie presiding. Resolutions were passed unanimously, authorising the directors to dispose of tho property at their discretion, and to execute all necessary deeds of sale, also to ratify a deed of offer made by Mr J. C. B. Seaver on September 4th, 1896.
